Marco D. Holland, an Atlanta native born at Grady Hospital, embodies the essence of servant leadership. For over two decades, Marco has been a transformational force in education and human resources, with a career marked by innovation, strategic vision, and a steadfast commitment to improving academic outcomes for students. Currently, Marco serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Marietta City Schools, where he leads a comprehensive strategy to recruit, develop, and retain exceptional talent. His leadership has driven initiatives that enhance staff performance, foster professional growth, and align human capital strategies with district objectives.
Marco’s journey began as a reading tutor at Carrollton Elementary School, eventually advancing to roles as a teacher, coach, and principal across metro Atlanta. His tenure includes leadership in Fulton County Schools, where he earned accolades, such as the South Learning Community Principal of the Year, and drove remarkable student achievement gains. Marco’s dedication to improving outcomes for underserved students is underscored by his work in economic empowerment through education, particularly for students of color facing financial challenges.
A lifelong learner, Marco’s academic credentials include an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Liberty University and a Master’s in Social Science from the University of West Georgia, among others. His global perspective was enriched through a Regents Scholar program in Kenya, where he studied Swahili and local culture. Currently, Marco extends his expertise as an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University, mentoring graduate students on instructional practices.
Besides his professional endeavors, Marco is a dedicated family man who enjoys traveling, mentoring, playing chess, and investing in real estate.
